BAY AREA THERAPY FOR ANXIETY & DEPRESSION

Individual Therapy

Anxiety and depression are common if you have been struggling with self-doubt, limit-setting, or tension in your relationships. Individual therapy is an opportunity to explore your way of doing things and discover what’s underneath the symptoms you are experiencing.

Therapy is confidential and talking with a trusted person can provide a freedom to express feelings more truthfully. Awareness deepens when you get to the core of how your experiences have shaped you. This awareness can lead to sustainable change and wellness.

BAY AREA COUPLES THERAPY

Relationship Coaching

It takes courage to show up authentically in your relationships. You may feel like the relationship will end if you stop making their needs more important than yours, so you keep saying yes. Carrying shame and fear from past relationships could be getting in the way of a partnership that is mutually beneficial.

Couples therapy can help you explore what is going on in your partnership without judgement. It can help you communicate and show up more authentically.

FAMILY STRESS AND INTERPERSONAL CONCERNS

Therapy to Learn Healthy Boundaries

Boundaries make sense to you intellectually. Yet, you still can’t seem to identify what yours are because that inner voice is also loudly telling you to make others happy first. Or, as soon as you assert a boundary you become overwhelmed with panic and fear you’ve done something wrong or will damage the relationship. Boundaries, or the concept of individuality, might even be rejected by your family of origin. It takes practice but it is possible to say “no” and work through the internal backlash that occurs. Showing up authentically means honoring your boundaries, limits, preferences, and desires. It takes work but learning to trust yourself is possible.

LEGACY BURDENS & ENVIRONMENTAL STRESSORS

Therapy to Stop Repeating the Past

Were you raised by parents who were living with their own overwhelm and were unable to model or teach you how to say “no”? Did the chaos or intensity make you believe you could remain safe if you were “good” and quiet?

Historically, women, people of color, queer folks, and other marginalized communities have faced violence, injustice, and harsh cruelty where it was a form of survival to submit and disconnect from one’s identity, needs or desires. We are becoming more aware of how historical legacies are being passed down unconsciously. Some of your survival strategies might have been useful to your younger self or even your ancestors (parents, grandparents, etc.) but might be preventing you from fully thriving in the present.

What to expect during our initial consultation

For some reaching out to a therapist can feel empowering and exciting, for others it can be a bit intimidating.

We will have a gentle conversation. I will ask, what’s bringing you to therapy? What are you wanting and needing from a therapist? We'll briefly go over my therapeutic style and approach. I will answer any questions you have about me or the therapy process. Finally, if it’s a good fit, we will talk about my rates and scheduling.
